Climb a wall: preparation, points and distances

After taking into account the necessary physical preparation (without which it is impossible to achieve the result) we start to see the technique to climb our wall (made of stone, 2.5m high).

Preparation:

  • Let’s do extensive stretching and warming (important)
  • Let’s wear shoes with a sole as much as possible “prehensile”
  • Let’s choose the wall we want to climb assuring us about its stability and the absence of collateral dangers (obstacles, overhangs, etc.)
  • We have to run against the wall, create pressure, give boost and change grip (let’s project our first climb)

Points and distances:

  • Let’s establish a reasonable starting distance that allows us to achieve a good take-off power
  • Let’s establish (at least roughly) the more favorable contact points for hands, feet and, as well, the detachment point
  • The point of detachment must be at such a distance that allows the foot to rest with the knee at about 90 (so as to give the maximum vertical thrust)
  • The detach point is usually one step away from the wall
  • The point of support / contact (indicatively) is at an height equal to half of our thigh (from the ground)

In the next article we will see the true and proper climbing and the final recommendations.
