Face more than 1 opponent at the same time: final tips

The last part of this discussion on combat with multiple opponents concerns small tips / tricks and solutions to common problems.

Some of the tips that we are going to face are commonly defined as “misconduct”, it does not matter; if it is really at stake our / someone life and there is no possibility of negotiation / escape, it does not exists any difference between throwing a punch or sand in the eyes.

Tips and tricks:

  • Clothes, chains, and bracelets are a hindrance as well as to us also for the opponents, if we have occasion let’s use them to lock (eg. pulling down a jacket to block arms), to strangle (eg. with a necklace) or to increase damage (eg. beating a ring against someone face)
  • We must always try to fight an opponent at a time, we do not try to fight all of them together, when we are overwhelmed by the number we have to push away the attackers that we cannot handle
  • We have to avoid synchronous blows (they arrive to sign 1 time on 10), rather we have to opt for vibrant strokes, sequential and especially the ones that involve impact between opponents
  • If there are opponents to the ground we have to walk on their pain points (or simply on fingers, head, neck, etc.) while we fight with others, we need to be quick and above all not to lose balance
  • Let’s find a blunt object that has a maneuverability ,strength and/or an elasticity equal or greater than the one of our hands as well as an area of less impact than our knuckles (further details on this later)
  • Since the beginning, when we have the opportunity, let us have no problems to bite, scratch or tear hair with the maximum power at our disposal
  • When we fall to the ground, let’s collect (unseen) a handful of sand and stones to hurl at the opponent and blind / distract him just enough to be able to surprise him (we have to be almost standing)
  • Sometimes is possible to threat and immobilize an opponent to order the others to leave the field (not in view of a surrender but a reasonable escape)
  • If we (really) know how to effectively use flexible weapons (es. 9 sections chain), the belt of our trousers become the ideal weapon to tackle opponents from / to any location / distance at high speed
  • The belt is also a great tool of submission (around neck, wrists, etc.), better to always have it with us

Solutions to common problems:

  • If we can not strike effectively, let’s push away the opponent or let’s get away to face the next (always with circular motions)
  • If someone grasp us (beyond the possible techniques), before the grip is tight, sometimes we just have to swing our whole body in one wave like motion (through a muscle chain like a dolphin)
  • If someone have already solidly grasped us (and we can not apply any technique) we strike with the utmost violence through parts of our body we can still use to harm (eg. head, fingers, shoulders, mouth, etc.)
  • If we fall to the ground in a situation of serious disadvantage (eg. we can no longer see), let’s immediately close the whole body, let’s cover the face with arms and let’s offer back/harms/legs as target
  • When we fall to the ground (though painful) let’s immediately roll to a safe distance and let’s do anything to get back up as quickly as possible (if we are not in good conditions let’s use all the arts available to us, otherwise let’s try to maintain up the guard)
  • If we fail to hit opponents vital / pain points let’s focus on their hands and their feet, especially to fingers
  • Always keep in mind what force an attacker to quickly abandon the clash (eg. loss of balance, loss of vision, serious injuries, too intense pain, damage to the feet, true fear, etc.).

When we risk to lose a life the goal is to prevail, at any cost, by any means (as Ninjutsu says). For this reason we must avoid in every way to find themselves having to use all our resources against anyone. Violence is always a defeat.
