Fight with multiple opponents: attack and defense techniques

We have seen how to manage the environment in a fight with multiple opponents, let’s now descend deeper to see some tips on how and what to attack / defend.

What / how to attack:

  • The targets are always evaluated one at a time but without breaks, we need to focus, hit and move
  • After each attack we must try to put ourselves in a position where there is no one behind us
  • Where possible, we have to insert our attacks within a general strategy but instinctively adaptable to the difficulties that we will find
  • In the eyes of opponents, the situation should not ever be stabilized, we have to continuously change tactics but remaining within a general plan
  • The bodies of opponents are large areas to hit, we have to make the most of every contact opportunity not to waste our energies
  • Let’s attack the vital points or points of intense pain depending on the severity of the situation and according to our abilities

What / how to defend:

  • We have to defend all our vital points against experienced opponents
  • We have principally to defend genitals, neck and head against generic opponents
  • The best defense is the one that does not waste our strength and especially the one that does not clash power against power
  • We have to try to channel the surge of attacks rather than stop it or face it, this will economize our energy and limit our damages
  • Even if a real 6DKF practitioner is used to strengthen his weak points we have to defend them anyway, as if they had not hardened (conditioning increases our resistance but does not make us invulnerable)

What type of attack is better to use:

  • Let’s attack with a maximum of 2-3 hits in fast sequence and linked for each opponent
  • Let’s calibrate our attention to each (dangerous) opponent in counterclockwise direction (the opposite if we are left-handed)
  • We have to hit and move, hit and move quickly forward and backward without stop attacking
  • Where possible we have to try to hit opponent and bring him down (we have not to follow him)
  • If it is not possible to knock down the attackers, we have to hit and push away, hit and push, hit and push
  • In general it is best to pull, touch, push, rest, channel or hit rather than bind us to the opponent
  • When the distance allows it (at most an outstretched arm) we have to use attacks that can hit multiple opponents (not simultaneously but in linked sequence) without losing too much strength or balance
  • Let’s use kicks only if we are certain of our (current) athletic training or when it is extremely convenient and low-risk to be done
  • In general, we have to opt only for the techniques and the arts that we believe we can use at 100% of their effectiveness (it’s not time to experiment or to take risks)
  • Let’s hit with power, speed, simplicity, accuracy and, where possible, let’s hide our real goals (through fake, circular paths, etc.)

in the next article we will see some tricks and some solution to “common” multiple fight problems.
